Writers Share At PWP

The format for Professional Writers of Prescott (PWP) that permits twice a year sharing of members' writings was well attended last evening and I was most favorably impressed with the quality of the writing offered by about eight readers. Unfortunately, all writers, no matter how skilled in setting words to paper, do not deliver their writing well.  Little animation or audience contact.

This is an important consideration for those of you out in Blogland who expect to appear in presentations that will help sell your books.  Involve the audience! Speak distinctly and slowly, looking up from time to time. Avoid holding what you are reading in front of your face.  Your audience wants to see you face.  Your expression engages the audience as well as do your words.   If you have a soft voice, request  a microphone in advance of the time you are to appear.  And PRACTICE USING THE MICROPHONE!  In too many of the general meetings I've attended when a portable mic is passed around ao that comments from the audience may be heard, the speaker hold the microphone as though it were a snake, thinking, I suppose that his/her vloice is transmitted through the holding arm to those who want to hear.

This blog is especially directed to those who are now, or soon will be, promoting their books!!
