Diligent Writers
As I updated my roster of members in my workshops this morning and added the new Children's Writers category, I find that members now total 30. Eight is max in any one group. All have something to say (WRITE!) that can be of interest beyond the confines of our little groups.
I want to mention one member particularly who DAILY goes to a local cybercafe when it opens at 7. He writes on his computer for one to two hours. This man is a retired science professor at the college level. He always has a book chapter or a story to share with the group.
One of the women writers brings her inspirational messages to read for editing suggestions each meeting. She has self published several little books, illustrated with her own photographs. They are lovely, beautifully done, the kind of books one finds on a turning display rack in grocery, book, and gift stores. I am trying to persuade her to seek a national commercial publishing house to take these on.
A 99 year old woman in one workshop brings her poetry. Her mind is sharp but her eyesight is so poor she can't read her work. Instead, she recites her very clerver poetry to us from memory. I usually ask that members bring a print copy for me as I can more readily make corrections in punctuation, grammar, etc. than through hearing the piece only. Our little group will celebrate Irene's 100th birthday at our April meeting.
I hope that these little bios will inspire you, too, to keep on keeping on–WRITING & SHARING.
Until tomorrow, Willma
