Children's Writers Workshop
The title above is too much of a mouthfull (ear-full?) so we are calling our new workshop for children's writers the "Kiddieshop."
I am delighted to report that the four of us enjoyed and profited (according to their reports) from the session, and we will be setting a regular time. We have interest from another gal who will be our guest at the next meeting. With everybody reading manuscripts, we fill two hours with reading and commentary, and that is long enough for any session.
One member, a former elementary teacher, edited a lovely book published this year about Navajo customs and stories. She is reading a series for very young children about colors. One member has published several children's books and has a contract for more. Hers feature Tibetan children. Another is an artist writing about nature. My published children's books are all nonfiction; seven exclusively under my name; another dozen co-written with two other women. (That is a story in itself since the three of us lived more than 200 miles apart.)
More on this later, and tomorrow brings a happy surprise. Cheers, Willma
