Happy Day
I believe I reported quite a while ago about my story "Cell Mates" that had been published in the annual Writings From The River, put out by Montana State University. The "honor" was my only compensation.
I had sent the story to two other pulishers in response to their request for stories. for anthologies. That a piece had been published elsewhere was okay. One publisher returned the contract to me saying that due to economic cut backs they would not be publishing after all.
The publisher that has accepted my story, The Writer's Institute in Connecticut, tells me that theirs is a "teaching anthology" to be used by teachers of creative writing at the college level. One of the editors has re-contacted me to let me know that I will be paid the end of April and receive two copies of the book on publication in July, AND they asked for a photo of me that will be used in a cover montage (along with other authors whose work appears in the anthology) . That went off in the mail today.
Other good news is that my Long distance Grandparenting book has sold 880 copies (published early in 2008) and I received my first royalty check today..
More tomorrow, Willma
