NEW YOU CAN USE?
THIS IS TO LET THOSE OF YOU IN BLOGSPHERE who tune in to this page from time to time that it (and my computer) will be off-line for the month of April. I will try to get one more "gem of wisdom" posted befor leaving on March 30 fo an eight-appearance book tour in California.
NO, I DO NOT RECOMMEND such tours as opportunities for mega-sales of books. And I could not finance such an adventure if it weren't that I have gratis B&B in each of the five cities in which I will appear. I've lived in six different California Counties and seem to have made more friends than enemies in my long adventure in writing. Quill Driver Books,, the advance/royalty publisher of two of mine has a good promotion support department. However, these days–unless you have a block buster with a major N.Y. publisher, the major part of promotion is up to the author.
I WILL APPEAR at three Retirement Homes, at three writer club monthly meetings,, a bookstore and a church and will report on all this when I return. I hope to have new tips to pass along. The most recent book, Long Distance Grandparenting (pub. in Nov. 2007) will be the main focus when I talk about "A Lifetime Of Writing For Fun, Love & MEAGER Profit." My writing life–besides being punctuated with many great adventures–has brought many laughs–many on me! I don't mind telling of these and audiences seem to enjoy my foibles as well as my successes.

I finally got through! Hope you enjoy the journey and the company, and sell tons of books. You're a far better woman than I, because I wouldn't be willing to put up with the uncertainty of it all (writing for a living), and so have sold my soul to proprietary education so I can write on the side, for myself. But I do also envy the fact that you can write when you want to–except, of course, when you're on the road promoting.
Have a great trip!
