Good News

Acouple of years ago I signed on as something of an editor with a publishing company, Telling Your Story, Inc. headquartered in Florida. The connections came about in an unusual way.

The son of the president of the company lived at the time in the Condo complex here in Sedona where I lived.  He had seen a news release in the paper about my writer workshops and contacted me to ask about my writing experience.  He told me about TYS. Their method was to seek out people who wanted to tell their life stories for publication, mainly for family, but did not feel capable of writing the story themselves.  A member of TYS interviewed and taped what the client wanted to say.  The tape was transcribed by a typist and the printed sheets came to me for editing.  My job was to keep chronology straight and make these accounts as interesting as possible.

I enjoyed this writing and the directors of TYS liked what I did.  We agreed on an hourly price for my editing.  Although I kept in touch with the Florida president of the company and we became friends, they did not need me for more work–UNTIL now.  The president does the interviewing of the client and sends me her notes with the request that I make the information "flow," and gramatically correct.  These interviews are not long and will be assembled in a book that records the evolvement of a California Airport and its progress through the years.

Of course, there's a "moral" to every story.  The one for this is that you can be paid for all kinds of writing. Until tomorrow, Willma
