In January I responded to a WOW (Women on Writing) contest in which we were to submit a flash fiction piece that pertained in some way to writing. After an hour or so of editing (reducing my "Poetic Justice" short story from 800 to the required 500 words.  The advertised first prize is $200 with three $100 winners and "goodies" (i.e. tangible items) sent to the top 25 out of 300.

I had word this past weekend that I am among the top 25.  I will hear the final results by the end of April.  WOW stages several contests a year.  The entry fee is usually  $5-$10.  You can "tune in" to their requirements and contest rules at editors@wow-womenonwriting.com.
