Connections

A few words this morning on the value of contacts made along the way. I first met Donna McCrohan of Ridgecrest, CA when I spoke about four years ago to the RidgeWriters  branch of California Writers Club (CWC)  RidgeWriters is one of about 15 affiliates in different parts of the State who are under the "umbrella" of CWC.

At that Ridecrest meeting I spoke about my then latest published book, Just Pencil Me In–Your Guide To Moving & Getting Settled.  Donna contacted me later saying she'd like to include info on my book in an article she was writing for Bakersfield Magazine.  The main thust of her article, as I recall, was getting rid of "stuff." My book has quite a bit to say on this subject, its main theme being "do you own their possessions or do they own you?"  The article was published in due time and, of course, my thanks went to Donna. My  most recent, re-acquaintance with Donna was when I spoke again to Ridgewriters on April 2 of this year.

Within the last month, since my return from California, Doinna has re-contacted me.  She belongs to a charitable organization, Pilots International, that is to have its annual convention in Phoenix in July.  The upshot of this is that I have  been invited to present a brief address to the Convention AND have a table to display and sell my books for the day that I speak.  Writers stick together and help each other  I hope to be able to do something similar for Donna one of these days.
