Finally Friday
This week on Tuesday was the trip to the surgeon's office where I got an all-clear for my bionic knees–for a year. But an annual checkup is required to x-ray for "rust" or other signs of wear.
Workshops began this week are Wednesday, Thursday, and today, Friday. By the end of yesterday's I was not sure I'd have enough energy for today's but, of course, a good night's sleep restores. I know I'm impatient to get my old energy level back.
Yesterday afternoon's session brought one of our regulars, a true-crime writer with his continuing account of the trial. His story reports on his experience as a Texas TV reporter during the trial of a woman who was being held for the murders of five people. Included in what he reads to us are excerpts from the testimony of this murderess. She was certifiably crazy if her testimony is of use.
What was great for our group was that a new member was able to share with and help Roger. An artist, she was hired by CNN to do the court room sketches of all trial participants during the Hinkley trial in Washington. (Hinkley was the one who tried to assassinate Reagan when he was president.)
What does this do for the writers in the group? Reminds us all that behind the facade of a pleasant friend who has taken up writing (often in later life) lies story after story. We need to tell ours and get into groups where others tell theirs. Until Monday, Willma
