Writers' Workshop Schedule

This is to announce for any of you who are within commuting range, that I'm launching a new workshop on Aug. 19 (1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Always dark the fifth week of any month.)  The recently-launched but shortly  "de-launched" workshop for writers of children's stories, has not come to the fruition I'd hoped for, but with a few people still interested we may get it "off the ground" again.

One interested party called saying "I haven't written anything, but I want to."  This is good enough for eligibility in any of my workshops.  And I have been delighted that people who never thought about writing or submitting manuscripts to magazines have found a new dimension in their lives simply by being acquainted with what we do in workshop.  Several members write poetry; some write for young adults; some are recounting childhood memories, some write "protests" about the current state of affairs–anything from nature to politics–and some write fiction.  Although I am not equipped to advise with maximum authority on any of these genres, I have sold to all and can at least direct people to greater help than I can personally give.

What is particularly delightful and inspiring to me are words from those who came empty-handed but after hearing others read came the next time having been inspired by something they heard at their first meeting. And, though one group is really too large to give ample time to every reader, all members are so bonded in affection and support that they do not want to switch to the new group.  Get in touch at willmagore@msn.com if you have questions I may be able to answer.–Until tomorow, Willma
