Chick Soup Magazine?

In my sit-down time late in the day, I often thrumb through various market guides and mark them as targets for some of my essays/articles that sit in my files praying to get into print.  I  was surprised to find in two Market Guides (Writer's Market 2008 and The Best Magazine Markets, 2009) reference to a magazine titled, Chicken Soup For The Soul, published in Santa Barbara, CA.  The description of this monthly indicated that it wants the same kind of  essays as requested by the anthology division.

I immediately e-mailed one of my writer e-spondents who has by now sold 11 stories to the Chick Soup series of anthologies.  She tells me that the Chick Soup Mag died in 2007.  The company now publishes anthologies only.

Morale to this story?  ALWAYS check the website if one is offered before wasting your time or you postage on listed markets that may no longer be published.  Popular rumor has it that about 3000 new publications are launched every year and about that number also "bite the dust."   Until Monday, Willma
