Printed vs. On-Line Market guidelines

The blog I wrote yesterday under this title did not get sent because my wandering fingers hit a computer key that froze everything I was trying to do.  Son Alan to the rescue.   It took him ten minutes to bring me and the computer back "on board." Too late to get back to the blog, however.

I was brought up short when a manusript I'd sent to a magazine using the editor's name and address I found in both Writer's Market and Best  Markets for 2009 came back as undeliverable.  Lesson:  ALWAYS  go to the listed website (these tend not to change even though mailing addresses do)  to find the current submission guidelines. Some editors want Mss pasted into an e-mail; some want attachments; a few still prefer snail mail submissions.  If the publication is still functioning and seeking submissions, we will find the information on the website.

A monthly, instructional newsletter is published in California by an excellent writer and writing teacher, Mike Foley.  The newsletter is free and always offers new ways of approaching our writing.

Ask Mike mike@writers-review.com to be put on the list to receive a copy each month.  His latest reminds us that "people are all alike." Not true! you say.  Reading this issue will enlighten you in ways to improve your writing.

Writer workshop here for me today.  Until tomorrow, Willma
