Workshop Wonders

Yesterday wes the first meeting of my latest writer workshop and it served to remind me (and you, I hope)  of the value of these. Only three were here but two others have promised to attend the next meeting and from the reports of these people I know we will have a great group.

People from all walks of life give me (and I hope each other) windows into areas of experience we would never encounter except–possibly–through reading–and the "experiences" we glean with reading do not have the impact of "live encounters."  Previously unknown career and interest areas I learned of yesterday include: nightclub singer, model, physical terapist, real estate agent, hospice worker, taxi driver, and Mary Kay rep, to name only a few careers and vocations among those present.

One gal read an essay that seems to me to be right for a market I recently learned about–an anthology under the title, End of Life Stories.  I suggested this and  she will make adjustments in her story to meet the requirements.

The practical use for me was to send me back this morning to an experience I had (different from all the above) that I have made notes about.  I  know it is time to get back to those happenings in my life.

Until tomorrow, Willma
