First Line
Among the contests and markets that fly into my computer from all avenues of cyberspace is one that may be of interest to readers. "The First Line."
The due date for a story is Novem ber 1, 2009, giving us all time to perfect a story that begins with these words: WAITING FOR CHANGE ALWAYS SEEMS TO TAKE LONGER THAN YOU EXPECT.
Blog readers out there may respond quickly to such triggers. I recall that a leader of a writer club I once belonged to, always had a subject and a required ten-minute writing period at the beginning of each monthly meeting. An order to write about a particular subject usually freezes my creative juices, and I rarely responded. But in the subsequent reading time when a few volunteered to read their creations, I was surprised at the quality of what members produced in that short time.
The above "first line" would fit however at the beginning of a short story in my files. I plan to submit my story to "First Line." For more info: http://www.thefirstline.com/index.htm
Three workshops meet in my home this week: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So my blog will probably not appear again until the 31st. –Willma

Wilma,
I noticed your blog when you commented about Anne P. I enjoyed it and was interested in two links to contests.
Thanks,
Judythe
