SEP Limerick Contest
Those of you who can bring a smile to your verse should see the current issue of Saturday Evening Post. They publish a cartoonish picture and ask that readers create a five-line limrick to match the message of the picture. I believe the contest runs six times a year
In the current issue the picture shows two boys looking out the flap of a tent with worried expressions on their faces. Obviously they have pitched a tent for their first time sleeping out. Limericks are to be printed on a postcard and addressed to the magazine. The deadline for the current contest is Oct. 5. The prize is $100–good money for "poetry." Honorable mentions don't get cash but their limericks get recognition on the page.
I composed about six of these; sent two off. Will report on this later. The SEP also publishes a piece of short fiction (usually humorous) with each issue. It's worth picking up a copy at your news stand–if you are not a subscriber.
