Tennis, Talk, Tardy
Since last Thursday I've had compnay from home area in California–which means lots of talk; plus the US Open Tennis matches have been on TV. I'm not a tennis player but have always enjoyed watching the these players with remarkable skill. Thank goodnes the men's final was yesterday and I have been catching up ever since.
A writer friend sent me several pages explaning why the English language is an impossible conglomeration of sounds and symbols. I'd never have learned even to write my name if I'd had to learn English as a young reader.
Meanwhile, here is another homophone sample: Palate= part of the mouth; pallette=a board or surface on which paints are mixed; pallet=a bed. All three are pronounced the same.
I'll be back on track with information by tomorrow. –Willma
