Spoonerisms
10/16/09 - Figures of speech enliven our writing. I don't believe I've ever used or created one, but I thought you might like to tune in long enough to read these that came to me in a plethora of writing information bits.
Spoonerisms are words or phrases in which letters or syllables get swapped: Examples:
"I'm driving in the right lane" for "I'm driving in a light rain."
"Tease my ears" for "Ease my tears."
"Wave the sails" for "Save the whales."
I'm not sure where or if I would "swap meet" such pharses, but they are delightul windows to a number of possiblilities.– (Yes, TGIF!) Willma
