Fresh Eyes & Ears

10/22/09–As I have probably said before, I read my own work in only one (Serious Scribes) of my four workshops–simply because I want to give the time to the other members and for most meetings, we need the full two hours for other members' work.

The members of the workshop that met with me this morning  (Village Writers) have been with me longer than any others.  In a discussion with one of them on the trip to and from the Oct. 3 Book Festival, I mentioned that I would like to have them hear and  critique my work.  This member urged me to read my chapters to them. I agreed that I'd read Chapter One to them this morning.  I am  VERY HAPPY to get their comments.  They made excellent suggestions, things members of my Scribes group did not catch. Their interest and comments encourage me to bring my chapters to future sessions.  I feel especially blessed with this opportunity.  I'll make sure to give full time to others as well as take a little for myself.

We can't have too many "eyes and ears" help us with evaluation and suggestions for editing.–Willma
