Treasure Trove

11/12/09– Today's snail mail brought me a treasure-trove of family history.  Many years ago a journal of home area history was published in a handsome book  called The ALBUM. The editor and I re-discovered each other in the year of our mutual 75rh  birthdays.  We had known each other in "rival" high schools in Owens Valley, the beautiful area where we were both were born and raised.  We  went away to different colleges.  She returned to the home turf wth a degree in journalism and worked as a news reporter a columnist and later, founding editor of  the ALBUM.

My aunt, my cousin and I had articles published at various times in this journal.  I was not a subscriber, but received copies of any issues in which my articles & photographs were published.  I had not known the extent to which my relatives had contributed but  have kept in touch with the editor, now living in Colorado.  We share family and writing news.  Today's mail brought me copies of all the pieces published by my relatives and me–a number I have not read before. Another friend in California is enamored of the history of my home town and valley at the foot of the High Sierra, and collects all information possible.  I can make copies of these pieces to send to her–and also to a younger cousin who does not have these.

This makes for a good day in my writing world!  –Willma
