12/17/09–"The best laid plans. . ."  I was expecting to go to family in California for the last half of December but  an icy patch of sidewalk came up to meet my (fortunately well-padded) rear end, a few days ago.  No broken bones but very sore. I can't sit in a car for the 12-hour, non-stop drive  to our CA destination. 

 What has this to do with writing?

Since I can sit at my desk as long as I get up and walk periodically, I have a most-welcome span of time that I can spend on two Christmas essays for the Chick Soup anthology (deadline Jan. 15, 2010) meant to publish in time for Christmas 2010. Wish me luck !  Chick Soup pays better than the three other submissions to anthologies I've had accepted in the past year. I don't recommend this way of gaining time for writing, but every little bit helps! 

Another trip to CA is planned in the spring so I'll put off my family visit until then.
